Volunteer Tax Assistance - BankOn Norfolk is offering FREE Basic tax return preparation for qualifying taxpayers. You need to bring ID, social security cards (for you, spouse and claimed dependents), banking information and tax documents. No appointment is necessary. Please see attached flyer for dates and times, the location is at Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch Library at 1425 Norchester Avenue.

E-Waste - E-Waste is a term for electronic products that have reached the end of their “useful” life, no longer work, or are no longer wanted, such as cameras, DVD players and VCR’s. E-Waste recycling allows residents to safely dispose of these electronics. As of April 14, 2023, E-Waste will no longer be accepted at Towing & Recovery, located at 1188-A Lance Road. Residents should now take them to the Norfolk SPSA Transfer station located at 3136 Woodland Avenue. See attached flyers for more information and instructions.
Lifeguard Certification - The American red cross is offering Lifeguard training for high school and college students. Participant requirements are listed on the attached flyers. The cost is $41 as a course fee that will be reimbursed if the student comes employed as a lifeguard by the City of Norfolk. For non-residents, the fee is $105 + $41 for a course fee.
Lifeguard Jobs - The City of Norfolk is hiring for summer and year-round employment of lifeguards with a starting salary of $18/hour. These are both part time and full-time certified lifeguard positions and are for indoor and summer beach operations. Visit Norfolk.gov-Jobs to apply.
